I HEARD IT FROM THE SHEPHERDS

The 20-minute musical includes SIX songs

with short drama script (for 3 actors) to tie the songs together.

Designed for all children's choirs,

this musical may be presented by younger children only...

in church or school setting.

While planned for presentation with live acoustic instruments,

a performance track is also included.

 

 

Songs:

  • Hodie! - up-tempo, fun opening song (on the Latin word for "Born today!") (Listen to sample)

  • Prophets - (see sample pages) teaches children the names of several of the major and minor prophets whose fore-tellings gave promise of the coming of Messiah; can be used at other times throughout the year, not just at Christmas/Advent.

  • Gentle Mary Laid Her Child - nice arrangement of a familiar carol with just enough alteration to make it interestingly 'new'.

  • I Heard It from the Shepherds - 'rap' (choral speaking in rhythm) based from the Luke 2 passage. Lots of fun, everyone's favorite! (see sample pages) (Listen to sample)

  • Cradle Dance - the 'pretty piece' - great opportunity to choreograph the song (see sample pages)

  • Angels We Have Heard on High - the familiar carol for audience participation with a recurrence of the "Hodie!" song as a partnering tune. Exciting ending. (see sample pages)
